Our Sheep

Our organic wool comes from the sheep of Hunting Hall, our small family farm in North Northumberland. Tom keeps a number of rare breed Teeswaters; a handsome sheep with a beautiful long silky fleece, highly prized for its fine, soft wool. The Teeswaters graze alongside our mixed breed flock, which includes several cross-breeds with soft, dark fleeces, perfect for our naturally coloured yarn.

The sheep graze in traditional organic meadows along the banks of the Low burn where wildflowers grow and tall willows provide summer shade. Brown hares hide in the long grass and sand martins flit over the water.

In April the ewes lamb, and the clipper arrives to shear the flock in June. We then carefully hand-pick the finest, softest fleeces to be spun for our organic yarn.

Hunting Hall has won several awards for environmental projects and caring for wildlife which is why we've chosen to include a hare in our logo. To find out more about our work on the farm visit You can stay on the farm in one of our two award-winning holiday cottages and even book a lesson in hand spinning one of our organic fleeces.
